Assembly Member Mark Isherwood visits Ysgol Bryn Elian
| On Friday 2nd July 2010 local Assembly Member for North Wales Mark Isherwood came to school to talk to students about various issues such as crime, the environment, wind farms, binge drinking, the work of MPs and AMs, lowering the voting age and the future of sixth forms in North Wales. The Year Nine students also asked Mark about Fair Trade and especially why Wales had decided to become the world’s first fair trade nation on 6th June 2008. Mark told the students that .............. ‘ it was thought that it was time to actually do something to help the poorer parts of the world rather than just talking about it. Wales could take a leading role – both morally and socially – in recognising the problems faced by Third World producers in the system of international trade that exists and hopefully other larger countries would take notice and follow Wales’ lead..................... It really is time to try to make poverty history.’ As you can see from the photo both the students and Mark are absolutely bananas about Fair Trade! |
